How can you entertain your guests? It may seem like you have enough to do at the party planning stages that you do not think about entertainment (do adults needed entertainment, after all?) There are times when you should put in place some form of entertainment, especially if you will not be able to tend to all of the guests throughout the party. There are some occasions, though, that people go overboard and this is where you do not want to go. Rather, it is a fine line between doing too much and not doing enough.
When do you need to provide entertainment? It is always fun to provide your younger guests with things to do. Sure, you can go out and rend one of the inflatable slides or jumping pits that kids love to play with. Just remember that these things hold their attention for no more than an hour and that may not be enough. Another option is to do some craft stations and allow the kids to go from table to table making something special for themselves. The only drawback on this is that you may need an adult to supervise each station or with the child is doing so that everyone stays safe.
Beyond entertainment for children, there are times when you can provide some entertainment for adults. For example, at wedding showers and weddings, it is appropriate to have a band or a DJ present to help keep the process going and to help entertain those who arrive. You may want to consider other entertainment for other events but only when it is definitely something that makes it warranted. For example, you may want to consider a pianist for your piano if you are hosting an elegant dinner party for a small group of people. Is this excessive? It can be, if it is the wrong type of party to use it in.
In most cases, the best types of entertainment are the conversations that people have with each other. Allow them to converse and enjoy each other's company. This will help to make the event meaningful. Plus, it is essential that you make yourself present at these events. As the host, you do need to spend some time enjoying your guests' company and talking with them about the reason for the event. You are the entertainment for the event, which is why many hosts opt for simple parties where they can spend more time with guests.
