Buffets Or Sit Down Dinners

It is up to the host of any party to make decisions about what type of party will be had. Part of that decision process is deciding if and when a buffet dinner is acceptable or when you should have a sit down meal. Of course, it is up to you to determine what works best for your plans. There are many instances when it is best to choose one option over the other simple for the same of keeping the party easy to manage. Plus, it often depends on the type of food you are serving. Here are some ideas that can help you to make the right decisions.
One way to make this decision is based on the number of people you have. If you have a larger group, save fifteen or more people, it can be difficult to have one table where the dishes are equally shared. Rather than do this, a buffet is often easier to manage and is definitely the better option to allow people to have a helping of everything you are serving without having to ask each person to pass it to you. This takes time and it can be very annoying for the guests. Instead, set up the food as a buffet to make the process faster.
There are other times when a buffet works well. For example, if you have guests that will be coming and going at different times, it is helpful to set up the meals so that they can easily come, get what they want and then sit and talk to their friends. This way, if someone shows up a bit later than everyone else does, it is very easy for everyone to be able to converse and still feel included without intruding on a dinner that has already been started.
What about sit down, family style meals? Choose these for a intimate get together. Use them for dinners where there is time for everyone to sit down together to share a meal. Often, those special occasions often warrant this type of event, too.
Take the time to make decisions about this well in advance. There is no need to do extensive planning for something if it just will not work. Guests usually do not need to be told how you will set up the event nor how you will manage it. Make the right decisions for you so that everyone, including you is comfortable.
