Favors Or Not

When it comes to planning your special event, one thing you should consider is how appropriate it is to give your guests a favor, or a small gift for attending your event. These are given out for several reasons. First and foremost, they serve as a way of remembering the special event. By including the name, date and short message about what the special event is, your guests are able to take home their little memento and always remember the day with happiness. However, not all events should warrant this type of gift.
Party favors are often given for special occasions. These are usually once in a lifetime events where people are coming to celebrate that special occasion with you. It takes a few minutes to really take into consideration if you should offer this gift. Events like a wedding, a baptism, a baby shower, a bar mitzvah are all examples of once in a lifetime events that you will want to remember if at all possible. It makes sense that your guests will want to take something home from these special occasions to really make the memories last.
There are other occasions when it is acceptable to give a party favor. For example, many parents like to give these out when they host their child's birthday party. This way, each of the children who come to the party get to take a small, but much appreciated, gift home with them, too. This can be a lot of fun and it most definitely is a great way to help individuals feel like they are getting something special from the birthday child. There is no need to spend a lot of money on these. Rather, small trinkets, stickers and maybe some candy (as appropriate) is an option.
Take time to consider whether or not your event warrants a favor. If you are just getting friends together for a special dinner, without celebrating a special occasion, it is not necessary for you to have favors for guests. In fact, most adult parties where there is no special occasion being celebrated or when everyone is celebrating the same thing, there is usually not reason to hand out these special favors.
The good news is that even when you do need to give out special favors, there is no reason for you to have to spend a lot of money on them. Often, even small items make the lasting impression successfully.
